Dear Chair Egli and Members of the Board of Health, Mayor Watson and Members of Council,
Dear Chair Egli and Members of the Board of Health, Mayor Watson and Members of Council,
The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control application to construct a three-storey residential building containing eight dwelling units and 690 square metres GFA, with seven bicycle parking spaces.
I think most residents are aware that for the month of December transit is being offered without charge. While I voted against the initiative as a gimmick when it was first proposed, I do hope that it will be a success, introducing new riders to transit and encouraging existing riders to make more trips for more reasons around the city.
The applicants for the proposed development at 335 Roosevelt have resubmitted their development application to the City of Ottawa. Previously, the submission included two high-rise residential buildings of 21 and 18 storeys and 4 low-rise residential buildings. As many know, development applications were previously submitted in 2011 to permit the development of two (2) high-rise towers on the subject property, with building heights of 14 and 16 storeys, respectively. These applications were approved by Council and were subsequently appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board.
The City of Ottawa has received a Zoning By-law Amendment and Site Plan Control application to permit the development of a nine-storey, 87-dwelling unit, mixed-use building containing at-grade commercial and underground parking.
A Site Plan Control application has been received by the City of Ottawa to construct a six-storey mixed-use development with 32 dwelling units and 2,092.5 sqm GFA with four vehicle parking spaces and 28 bicycle parking spaces.
A Site Plan Control application to construct a three-storey, 13-unit residential apartment building with 14 bicycle parking spaces has been received by the City of Ottawa.
As a follow-up to the previous consultation on Iona Park, please see the updated concept plans for the shade shelter replacement in Iona Park in the Engage Ottawa links provided at the end of this post.
Construction on Scott Street to prepare the section from the Parkway (with a temporary connecting bus road to Churchill) to Tunney's for the bus detour continues to be the focus of much of my office's attention. Pedestrian and cyclist accessibility has been an ongoing issue in a tight and complicated space. I'd like to thank the Mayor and City Manager's offices for working with me to emphasize with the contractor the need to maintain safe passage.
