Ward Boundary Review Update

You are here

As you may be are aware, Round one of public consultation is receiving input on the City’s current ward boundaries from residents, key stakeholders and Members of Council. This consultation continues until April 3, 2020, with the following changes being implemented in consideration of the COVID-19 response:

Remaining Round one in-person public consultation meetings and stakeholder sessions are cancelled

The City’s cancellation of in-person public consultations as part of the COVID-19 response means that the remaining Ward Boundary Review public consultation meetings scheduled in March/early April have been cancelled. In-person stakeholder sessions scheduled in March are also cancelled. As described below in more detail, online opportunities to provide Round one input continue. In addition, the Consultant Team’s public meeting presentation has been added to the project website at ottawa.ca/wardboundary.

Information regarding the cancellation of in-person Ward Boundary Review public consultations was included in a Public Service Announcement issued by the City on Friday, March 13, 2020. This information is also posted to the City’s COVID-19 information page and the Ward Boundary Review project website. Notices are being issued to stakeholders and residents who signed up to receive project updates. Social media messaging is attached for your consideration and use if desired.

A second round of public consultation, including public meetings, is to occur following Council’s anticipated consideration in Q2 2020 of an Information Report setting out new ward boundary options.

Online opportunities to provide input continue, with additional information added to the project website

Residents and stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate in Round one public consultation until April 3, 2020, by completing the online survey, submitting input through the guestbook, or emailing wardboundary@ottawa.ca with comments for the Consultant Team. Additional information has been added to the project website, including a new comprehensive background document and the Consultant Team’s public meeting presentation slides.
