Temporary Roadway Modifications
September 2019
Dear Resident,
In September 2019 several temporary roadway modifications will be implemented to facilitate construction work to replace the existing watermain in Richmond Road between Redwood Avenue and Fraser Avenue and the watermain in Fraser Avenue between Richmond Road and Byron Avenue.
Who: The City of Ottawa has retained the Contractor, Ottawa D Squared Construction, to complete the work.
Why: The temporary roadway modifications will provide a safe route for traffic to travel through and around the construction zone. Sidewalks will remain accessible.
What/When/Where:
September to November
- Eastbound traffic on Richmond Road between Redwood Avenue and Fraser Avenue will be detoured onto Byron Avenue. Detour signs will be installed on site.
- Redwood Avenue between Richmond Road and Keenan Avenue will be converted from 2-way traffic to 1-way traffic southbound.
- On-road cycling lanes will be provided on Byron Avenue between Redwood Avenue and Fraser Avenue.
- Parking on Byron Avenue between Redwood Avenue and Fraser Avenue will be prohibited.
- A pedestrian crosswalk (PXO) will be provided on Byron Avenue at Wavell Avenue and another PXO will be added on Byron Avenue at Westminster Avenue.
- Fraser Avenue between Byron Avenue and Richmond Road will be converted from 2-way traffic to 1-way traffic northbound.
