Hiring full-time planning assistant

Councillor Jeff Leiper, Kitchissippi Ward 15, is currently seeking a new staff member to join his office. This is a full-time position; Monday to Friday, seven hours a day, totaling thirty-five hours a week. Starting salary is $55,000.  

The ideal fit for this position is a creative problem solver who can coordinate multiple stakeholders and thrives in a team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring key development files and policy processes, but no prior knowledge or experience is necessary to apply or thrive in the role. Leadership skills, the ability to work independently and strong organizational skills are assets. An interest in or some experience doing community engagement work is a positive. Bilingualism is also an asset but is not mandatory.  This position requires occasional weekday evening and weekend work. 

Duties include the management of key files for Kitchissippi ward in Planning and Development. 

·       Organizing and leading community engagement and consultation sessions 

·      Coordinating and liaising with the City and other stakeholders on active files 

·       Assist residents and relevant stakeholders seeking assistance from the Councillor's office  

·       Working closely with Kitchissippi Ward’s community associations and Business    Improvement Areas 

Ideal candidate will have:    

·       Ability to multi-task and address competing priorities   

·       Extensive experience working in customer-facing positions   

·       Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to resolve issues  

·       A strong desire to help others and support community growth
