Addressing Hate Crimes: Creating a Safe City for All

In a very timely way, Crime Prevention Ottawa is hosting a speaker series event addressing hate crimes. Councillors McKenney, Nussbaum, Chernushenko and I were grateful on Sunday for the 300+ turnout to our solidarity walk. Residents want to speak out against hate and intolerance, and we have a responsiblity to do so. On Friday, join this event to learn how we can address it.

About the session

Incidents of hate crimes across the country and here in Ottawa demonstrate the need for a coordinated, collaborative approach to address this serious community safety issue. Hate crimes are not only physical. They also carry an element of psychological harm, which ultimately affects quality of life for victims and the targeted community. Join us as we learn from law enforcement officials, human rights experts and members of the LGBTQ community on integrated approaches to preventing, enforcing and responding to hate crimes in Ottawa.

Les crimes haineux ne sont pas seulement physiques. Ils créent également des dommages psychologiques qui finissent par nuire à la qualité de vie des victimes et de la communauté ciblée.
